Mother Ada White

Sis. Ada White along with two other sisters (Sis. Mable Anderson, Sis Frankie Sherrard) organized the now existing Ellis Memorial Church of God in Christ in 1948. The mission started in Sis. White’s home on New Hampshire Street in the Fidelity Community. The women prayed and fasted without ceasing for God to send them a Shepherd. Their prayers were answered in 1949.

Her life’s work included the church, her home, and her community. She was known for her tambourine playing and songs she sang during church service. She would often walk around the church while singing and playing her tambourine, usually off-key, but very enthusiastically. Her testimonies were always uplifting. Sis. White would often take people into her home and allow them to live with her as she nurtured and cared for them. She never failed to tell them and all who would listen about the goodness of the Lord.

God called Mother White home in 1988.
Her many years of service is still appreciated by succeeding generations.
